About This Image
LDN 1089 drifts quietly through a rich field of interstellar dust, where faint reflection light and delicate molecular clouds weave together across the darkness of space. Subtle blue wisps glow around young stars while deeper brown filaments trace the hidden structure of the galaxy, revealing regions shaped by gravity, radiation, and time. This one is located 1200 LY away in the constellation Cepheus. The object lower left is SH2-130, a faint emission nebula about 2,000 LY away from earth.
