About This Image

This data was collected while at Starfest, and while at the HAA star party at Andromeda Meadows. I find that the SY does very well under reasonably dark skies. However, at home where I have to deal with a bright streetlight I get horrible gradients that are difficult to correct. This image is free of those gradients since it was taken at fairly dark locations. The lens is a blast to use, but I always find these widefield images a challenge to process. Most of our astrophotos feature a single target or two and the background can be processed so as not to distract from the target. With these widefield images I find it harder to do justice to the targets within the FOV while treating the background as a much more prominent part of the final image. Always learning!
